What is Emata?
The fintech is a product of Laboremus Uganda and it was founded in 2017. It was formed with a goal to solve some of the main challenges that hold back the flow of agricultural financing in Africa today.
Emata is revolutionizing farmer financing as it targets the underbanked in Uganda with the main focus on farmers who are in cooperatives. It provides them with access to crucial banking services that they might need. By interacting with Emata’s digital platform, cooperatives can register farmer deliveries, update prices, create payment schedules and share daily SMS updates with farmers.
Emata has had an extraordinary year, achieving multiple milestones in a relatively short period of time. In July this year, it emerged as the best in The Search for ‘Fintech Abu Dhabi’ in Africa. The fintech will represent Uganda and Africa at the Fintech Abu Dhabi Festival in Abu Dhabi as it competes globally in November this year.
Emata was also crowned top winner in May this year where it was announced as the top winner of Catapult Inclusion Africa among the 14 startups all over Africa that were selected to take part in the accelerator program on May 14 2021. Developed by the LHoFT Foundation, Catapult Inclusion Africa hosted its third edition of the unique program of fintech startup development this year.
Ms Lillian Nassanga Musoke the product manager from Emata said, “For Emata, I think it means that we are on to something with the way we are innovating for farmer financing and growth. The credit goes to the entire team behind the inception and creation of Emata’s product. I’m very proud to be part of and leading this team.”
Emata deserves to be congratulated on yet another outstanding achievement. There is no doubt that the company will continue to make waves in the global fintech environment as it continues to stand out in Uganda and Africa entirely.
