The Minister of Works and Transport Hon. Gen. Katumba Wamala communicated last week about the new guidelines regarding driving permits in Uganda. As the new process of issuing driving permits starts this month, there are some changes made that people should be aware of. One of the most important questions raised is how much are the new driving permits?

Some of the changes that Ugandans should expect are that the cards will be valid for 5 years which is an addition to the 1 year and 3 year validity. Another new change that is expected is that the new permits will be in compliance with ISO requirements which aims at having one uniform card for the three regional blocks EAC, SADC, and COMESA.
Just as these changes were made, many Ugandans were left with the lingering question “How much are the new driving permits?” since it is expected that these new guidelines and the new management would cause the prices of driving permits to change.
