Google for Startups
Google for Startups fund wants to bridge the existing fundraising gap for black startup founders in Africa’s fast-growing technology landscape. Through the Google for Startups Black Founders Fund Africa, they are supporting early-stage startups on the continent that are founded by black-led or diverse teams or who are directly benefitting the black community.
This non-dilutive $3million fund is allocated across a pipeline of 50 investable black-founded startups in Africa. The fund is open to all startups that meet the criteria, with priority given to Google for Startups Accelerator & Partner program alumni.
This fund will be given along with mentorship support and Google platform credits to help the startups grow.
Who Should Apply
Early-stage startups with black founders or diverse founding teams operating and headquartered in Africa.
Program Highlights
- Non-dilutive (equity-free) cash awards of up to $100,000 per startup
- Up to $220k in Google Ads grants and Google Cloud credits
- Access to a network of mentors to help tackle each startup’s unique challenges

Essay competition
Liberty sparks encourages all young professional from the age of 18-30 to participate in the 2021 essay competition. The top 10 winners who will be selected through a various stage will attend the virtual young professional Colloquium with Prof Brian, Prof Ken Schooland and Adam.
The top winning essay will be published on Liberty sparks’ media, other website, blogs and also published in the local newsletter of the top country include Tanzania, Kenya and Uganda. We also have special packages for the top 10 winners, include special training and mentorship.
The top five winners will be awarded and the first winner to go home with $200 and the rest four $100 each.
The deadline for the submission is July 9th 2020. Only Top 20 candidates will be contacted. The Top five winner announcement and award will be in November 2021
