Jumia Uganda slashes delivery prices by half following total lockdown

Following the President’s national address, Uganda will experience another lockdown to curb the spread of the virus as cases continue to surge. With the recent national address are new restrictions that affect various sectors like transportation and shopping centres where people can buy different items. In efforts to limit crowds, more people will be forced to shop online to access the commodities that they need.

As Jumia Uganda slashes delivery prices by half, this will make the online shopping experience more affordable for customers during these tough times where many have also been cut off from their sources of income due to the restrictions.

The Jumia CEO said, “It is crucial for us to make sure Ugandans can rely on us to conveniently and safely deliver essential products to their doorstep at the lowest prices. By reducing our delivery fees we are putting our consumers’ needs first and promising them that we are here to support them through this. I urge Ugandans to stay safe and follow SOPs.”

Along with the new delivery prices Jumia Uganda is encouraging contactless delivery to keep both customers and employees safe. Consumers can visit the platform and opt for the contactless safe delivery option which has been implemented through Mobile Money or card payments.

Ugandans are quickly embracing financial digital solutions which can be portrayed by the ever growing number of fintech startups. These solutions have a great impact in times like these where human contact is limited in order to keep people safe.
