With the SafeBoda App, you can now easily send money either to your own bank or Airtel money account from the SafeBoda Wallet or to a recipient’s bank or mobile money account, even if the recipient is not a SafeBoda App user.

The SafeBoda Wallet is one of the most common features of the SafeBoda Super App. Besides enabling you to use the App for more than just rides, the SafeBoda Wallet ensures that your digital payment experience is the very best. 

You can easily transfer money from your Wallet to that of other users. You can also transfer money to other bank accounts at a minimal cost when compared to what the other platforms charge. 

You can send money either to your own account from the SafeBoda Wallet or to a recipient’s bank or mobile money account, even if the recipient is not a SafeBoda App user.

How to Transfer Money from SafeBoda Wallet to Mobile Money

At the moment, you can only transfer money from your SafeBoda Wallet to your Airtel Money account. To do this, follow these steps.

  • Open the SafeBoda App on your mobile and click on ‘Withdraw’.
  • Select the Mobile Money option.  
  • Enter the mobile number and confirm the recipient’s name
  • Select the amount you wish to send
  • Confirm the transaction details with your Wallet PIN

It costs you only UGX 500 to complete the transaction.

How to Transfer Money from SafeBoda Wallet to a Bank Account

To transfer money from your SafeBoda Wallet to a bank account, follow these steps.

  • Open the SafeBoda App on your mobile and click on ‘Withdraw’.
  • Select the Bank option. A list of available banks will be displayed for you to choose from.
  • Enter the Bank Account details including the name and account number. 
  • Input the amount you wish to send and confirm the transaction with your Wallet PIN

The available bank options on the SafeBoda App are KCB, Stanbic bank, Equity bank, ABSA bank, DFCU bank, and Centenary bank. The transaction charges are only UGX 1,000.

The SafeBoda Wallet is a Bank of Uganda-approved safe and secure wallet that you can use to send and receive money, recharge airtime & data bundles, pay utility bills, shop online, or pay to friends/vendors. 

You can transfer money from a SafeBoda Wallet to another Wallet for free and from Wallet to a bank account at the lowest charge.

What are the various ways to withdraw money from my SafeBoda Wallet?

There are three ways to withdraw money from your SafeBoda Wallet. You can do so at a SafeBoda Agent near you, to a bank account, or to a mobile money account.

How to withdraw from SafeBoda Wallet at an Agent

To withdraw money from your SafeBoda Wallet at an Agent point, follow these steps.
– Go to an Agent location with SafeBoda signage and ask for the till number
– Open the SafeBoda App on your mobile and click on ‘Withdraw’.
– Select the Agent option.  
– Select the Agent close to you or search by till number
– Select the amount you wish to withdraw  
– Confirm the transaction details with your Wallet PIN

How much does it cost to withdraw from my SafeBoda Wallet?

It costs UGX 1,000 to withdraw to a bank account; UGX 500 to withdraw to a mobile money number.

The cost varies depending on the amount for Agent withdraws – however, it is much affordable compared to other network charges.

How much time does it take to withdraw from my SafeBoda Wallet?

Mobile Money and Agent withdraws are instant and the money reflects on the receiving as soon as the transaction is confirmed.

Wallet to Bank transfers take between 30 minutes and 24 hours to reflect on the account, depending on the bank you are sending the money to.

Also, worth noting is that Wallet to Bank transfers are only active during weekdays 9AM – 5PM. Any transactions done outside these hours are completed in the next available working day.

What happens if I enter the wrong account details while withdrawing to bank or mobile money?

The bank account number should match with the account name for the transaction to be completed successfully. If it does not, the transaction is aborted and the amount refunded back to your Wallet.

For Wallet to mobile money transfers, the recipient’s name is reflected before the transaction is completed for confirmation. Once the displayed name is not what is expected, you can cancel the transaction to re-enter the correct number.
