MultiChoice Group-owned Internet streaming provider Showmax has announced that it will be offering access to all matches of the English Premier League, La Liga, and Serie A. The matches will be available in markets across Africa on Showmax Pro, the platform’s premium tier, which also recently live-streamed the Tokyo Olympics.
For a while now, we have known sports content to be fully provided by Showmax sister company SuperSport. With the new offering, it gives Showmax an upper hand ahead of rival streaming services such as Netflix and Amazon Prime Video which do not offer such entertainment to users.

When to watch European football on Showmax
The new season of the Premier League, which will consist of 380 fixtures, begins on 13 August. Other European football on Showmax Pro includes La Liga, with games in the Spanish league beginning on 13 August. In Italy, the Serie A campaign opens on 21 August. Showmax will also show the DStv Premier League and the UEFA Champion’s League, too.
How much is Showmax in Uganda?
Launched last year, Showmax Pro combines the existing Showmax entertainment offering with music channels, news, and live sports streaming from SuperSport.

SuperSport on MultiChoice’s DStv satellite television platform continues to offer a far wider range of sport than Showmax Pro, including cricket and rugby.

MultiChoice Uganda recently announced that effective September 1st, 2021, the DStv Uganda and GOtv Uganda offerings will see an increase in the monthly package prices. DStv prices, as with GOtv prices, always see such changes when it comes to the final third of the year. It is probably that time of the year when the parent company analyzes to check how much more it can make.
