There’s nothing more annoying than being added to WhatsApp Groups without your knowledge. Or is it even worse to be added by a person you know nothing about? Good enough, with constant feedback and the rolled-out updates, you can easily do away with this unsolicited stress.
WhatsApp made it quite simple for you to keep random people from adding you to their chat groups. All you need to do is go through a few settings under the app’s privacy section, and you’ll be happily chatting all the way.

How to stop strangers from adding you to WhatsApp groups
You can stop the adding by going to your Settings. Tap on the three dots on the top right corner in your WhatsApp and then tap on Settings. From here, go on to Account, which should be the first option, and then select Privacy – also the first option there.
When you go on to Privacy, scroll down to Groups, under which you’ll see a list of options to pick from based on your privacy preference. These are: ‘Everyone’, ‘My contacts’, and ‘My contacts except…’.

You can select My contacts to let only the people you know add you to WhatsApp groups. This works perfectly if you are the kind that gives out your phone number to different people outside your contact list. But still, you may have that ‘weird’ friend or two who just can’t keep themselves from creating random groups and putting you in there.
The solution for this is the next one, the My contacts except… option, which lets you select who should not even bother adding you to their WhatsApp groups even if they are your contacts. But you could be a free spirit that may find no problem with either of these options and would want those outside your contact list to include you in their groups.
In that case, you can choose the Everyone setting option which always removes all restrictions on who gets to add you to the WhatsApp groups or who does not.
