A Superb Tecno Phantom X: Re-defining Tecno flagships
A

TECNO Mobile is set to unveil the new Tecno Phantom X, in a bid to redefine and launch PHANTOM as a separate sub-brand. The Phantom series has been the flagship device of the Chinese phone manufacturer and has over time proven to offer unique features for its customer segment. Now that it is becoming a brand of its own, we can’t wait to see its very first offspring – the Phantom X.

Tecno Phantom X Expected Specifications

You ought to note that the Phantom has not changed its flagship status. This means that the specifications to come on it are expected to be top-notch. One key feature that could ultimately stand out on the new phone is the camera. We are anxiously waiting on to see what exactly is in stock but leaks indicate that the smartphone has a fairly impressive camera build both on the front and the back.

The Cameras

Beginning with the backside, there is a triple rear camera setup. This includes a 50-megapixel main camera with a large sensor. This sensor has Dual Pixel and Laser autofocus and sits behind an f/1.85 lens. The second is a 13MP telephoto with a 50mm lens that is likely to be the portrait camera. The third is an 8-megapixel camera with a 120º ultrawide-angle lens. These cameras are backed by a quad-LED flash.

On the front, the Phantom X has a 48MP selfie camera to capture all the selfies. This is combined with an 8MP ultrawide module with a 105º lens. This makes it a dual-selfie camera phone and these two are helped by a dual LED flash. This is just something worth watching out for!

The design

Let’s get to the design. The new Phantom X is reportedly coming with a 6.7” Super AMOLED display. It is a 90Hz panel with 1080p+ resolution (19.5:9) and curved sides. You should also watch out for Gorilla Glass 5 protection on the front and back of the device.

How about your device’s security and protection? Well, the X shall have a fingerprint reader that is built into the display. Apparently, this should ably unlock the phone in 0.4 seconds. This shall be coupled with the usual face-unlock feature that you have to set up using the selfie camera. There should also be an option to use a PIN for phone locking in the event that you do not trust the other two options.

The Tecno Phantom X Performance

Going deep in the inside, the Tecno Phantom X has some exciting specifications in there. It offers what might seem like the normal but in a preferably better-packaged way.

It is powered by a MediaTek Helio G95 12nm chip with two Cortex-A76 cores and a Mali-G76 MC4 GPU. Just to mention, the processor is what you get with the company’s Camon 17 series and the Infinix Note 10 series. The Phantom X as well runs on a super 8GB of RAM and massive 256GB storage. Additionally, you get a vapor chamber cooling system that is attached to the chipset to keep it cool all the time – no heating complaints!

And what will even cause these heating issues? The smartphone comes with a 4,700 mAh capacity battery and does support 33W fast charging. The capacity should have been much more, however, reports suggest that a 30 minute charge is enough to bring the battery up to 70%.

Tecno Phantom X Expected Price and Availability

Tecno is yet to give the details of when to expect the new device, but what we know is that it is launching very soon. Already, TECNO Uganda is taking pre-orders for the superphone starting at UGX 100,000. We shall give more details on the price when the smartphone is finally launched.
