The “Take on the PEARL Innovation Challenge Call” providing $40,000 reward

As a means of supporting businesses/enterprises severely impacted by the novel coronavirus, UNDP Uganda in conjunction with the Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities and UTB (Uganda Tourism Board) have launched the “Take on the P.E.A.R.L Innovation Challenge Call”.

P.E.A.R.L stands for Private-Sector Lead, Effective and Feasible solution, Additionality, Addressing COVID-19 Recovery and Resilience, Improve Livelihoods.

Many businesses have been affected in various ways and as a result, some have completely shut down while others are in huge debt. This innovation challenge call aims at supporting enterprises that present innovative solutions to scale up operations through funding to assist them as they recover from the impact of covid-19.

$40,000 is up for grabs in cash and/or in-kind support like goods and services.

The innovation challenge will help enterprises recover from the effects of COVID-19.

To be eligible for this innovation challenge, the applicants only need to be led by a private sector firm or a financially sustainable non-profit organization.

The applicants’ budgets must equal the prize award of $40,000 either in cash or in kind.

How to apply for this innovation challenge.

Submit a proposal that shows a plan on funding support and explains the barriers that the enterprise plans to overcome. And they are also required to show how the prize money will be used to overcome those barriers.

The proposals and other related documents will be submitted to [email protected].

The interested parties are advised to submit their proposals as soon as possible as all the successful firms from this innovation challenge will be evaluated and rewarded by 26th February 2021. For more information, click here.
