A list of the latest movies and shows you can catch up on
Crazy About Her
Crazy About Her is a Netflix-original Spanish rom-com about the hysterically-crazy things some people would do for love. After a crazy night with a mystery lady, the lovestruck Aldi learns that the only way to see Carla again is by being a patient at the psychiatric hospital where she actually lives. A great movie for the hopeless romantics.
United States vs Billie Holiday
The United States vs. Billie Holiday is a captivating historical thriller about the double life of music icon Billie Holiday. Andra Day stars as a jazz singer who, during her career, is both adored by millions and pursued at an undercover activity of the Federal Department of Drugs, headed by black Federal Agent Jimmy Fletcher (Trevante Rhodes). And if that wasn’t complicated enough, the turbulent romance between Fletcher and Holiday makes all that even more delightful. Based on Johann Hari’s book Chasing the Scream: The First and Last Days of the Drug War, this Lee Daniels-directed drama is a must-see show. You can stream it on Hulu.
Tom and Jerry
The world’s favourite cat-and-mouse pair is another one of the latest movies and shows that’s exclusive to HBO Max this weekend. The animated/live-action comedy follows the iconic frenzy of a stylish New York City hotel that Tom has just named his new home. But the mousy occupant is bad news, particularly during the wedding event of the century, and so the desperate wedding planner (played by Chloë Grace Moretz) hires Tom to get rid of him. In classic fashion, hijinks and majesty ensue as the evergreen war between the two enemies threatens to ruin her future, the wedding and even the hotel itself. Starring Moretz, Michael Peña, Colin Jost and more. Tom and Jerry brings back old memories from their old shows that generations have grown to love.
Caught By a Wave
Since falling in love at a summer sailing camp in Sicily, reality comes crashing down on a young couple when the blunt truth sparks a critical decision. The romantic movie features Elvira Camarrone, Christian Roberto and others. You can stream it on Netflix along with other latest movies and shows.
Honourably released Special Operations Soldier Pete Koslow’s (Joel Kinnaman) life is turned upside down when he is jailed following a war to defend his wife (Ana de Armas). He was offered the opportunity to be released early by becoming an informant for the FBI (Academy Award winners Rosamund Pike and Clive Owen) and using his undercover expertise in an attempt to take down The General, New York’s most influential crime lord. But when the FBI sting eventually meant that Koslow’s liberation resulted in the murder of an undercover NYPD officer, Koslow found himself trapped in a crossfire between the mob and the FBI. The General demands that Koslow gathers up the heat and sends him back to jail to spearhead a cocaine operation from the inside, and the FBI insists that going back to prison to do the General’s offer is the only way for Koslow to keep his dealings with them alive. Collected in a world of difficult decisions, Koslow must go back to jail where he formulates a scheme to avoid the clutches of three of New York City’s most influential organisations – the Mafia, the NYPD and the FBI – in order to rescue himself and his family. You can stream it on Amazon Prime Video.
