Data Science Africa recently announced the launch of DSA Uganda chapter coming soon on March 26th 2021. DSA Uganda chapter aims at nurturing and growing Uganda’s next generation of data scientists, data engineers, machine learning specialists, artificial intelligence practitioners and related expertise.
DSA Uganda chapter will serve as an opportunity for the growth and application of data science related skills in the private and public sector of Uganda.
DSA Uganda chapter to expand on growth of data science skills in Uganda
Data Science Africa has embarked on a number of projects and hosted seminars in Uganda as a way of providing skills in machine learning and other data science methods. A successful GP summer school was held in 2013 at Makerere University. It has also focused on providing digital solutions while aiming at affordability and practicability.

It achieves its goals through a number of ways like hosting seminars and supporting research that addresses local challenges.
The non-profit organization has held events in Uganda and other countries like Kenya, Tanzania, Ethiopia and Ghana.
Data Science Africa aims to create a vibrant community of data science researchers across Africa by;
- Providing an index of researchers and practitioners in the field of Data Science in Africa
- Increasing expertise in machine learning and data science through our summer schools
- Providing an opportunity for researchers and practitioners to showcase their work during our workshops
- Providing a link between the African data science community and the global community
About Data Science Africa
Data Science Africa is a Kenyan based non-profit knowledge sharing professional group that aims to bring together leading researchers and practitioners. Together they work on data science and machine learning methods and applications relevant to Africa, and providing training on state of the art data science methods to students and others interested in developing practical skills.
