The exquisite Uganda Airlines to start flights to London and Dubai soon

Uganda Airlines was recently revived in 2019 and is going above and beyond to achieve its goals; one of them being the operation of long haul flights to destinations like London, Dubai and Guangzhou. These plans for Uganda Airlines to start flights to London are coming to life since it has obtained landing slots at Heathrow Airport in London and Dubai International Airport.

Through a post on Twitter, the airlines said that the newly acquired A300-800 neo would be able to operate in London and direct flights are expected to commence on March 28th. According to Chimp Reports, the flight will arrive in London at 06:45 and depart for Entebbe at 09:00.

Uganda Airlines has to complete the A330-800 neo aircraft Certification process with the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority before it can start inter-continental operations in Europe, Asia and the Middle East. The Certification process is a five-phase program which once complete will result in the addition of the aircraft to the Uganda Airlines Air Operator Certificate. (AOC)

Uganda Airlines shared plans to start long haul flights in 2021 to destinations like London and Dubai which would commence once the newest additions to the current fleet, the Airbus A330-800 neo arrived. The country has two in its fleet which arrived separately, the first one in December and the other in February.

The airlines is also looking towards expansion within the continent with some preparations to include Johannesburg, Lusaka, Harare, Khartoum, Addis Ababa and other African countries.

“The shareholders look forward to the continued growth of Uganda Airlines’ passenger and cargo portfolio with the start of long-haul flights to Dubai, London, Guangzhou, and Mumbai, upon conclusion of the ongoing A330neo operations certification process; and further expansion of the African network to include Johannesburg, Lusaka, Harare, Khartoum, Addis Ababa, Lagos, Accra, Goma, Lubumbashi and more; as well as interline and codeshare partnerships for seamless global operations,” the airline states.

The announcement for Uganda Airlines to start flights to London and other destinations was made on social media where Ugandans expressed their joy after hearing the news and can’t wait for the flights to commence. More suggested expansion within Africa as well since it would spare them the burden of using other flights that tend to opt for longer routes.
