Ugandan long-distance runners, Joshua Cheptegei and Jacob Kiplimo are set to take part in the 5000m men’s final at the ongoing Tokyo 2020 Olympic games. The 5000m men’s final at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics is scheduled to take place at 3.00 pm East Africa Time (EAT) on Friday 6th August.

Just so you know, Cheptegei is the tenth man in history to hold the 5000 m and 10000 m world records concurrently, both set in 2020. He is one of the favorites to win the gold medal in this race. Kiplimo, on the other hand, is the 2020 Half Marathon World Champion. The duo emerged second and third respectively in the 10,000m final at the Olympics.
