WhatsApp recently introduced shortcut keys for its users that access the platform using computers. These keys can be used while accessing the app on the Windows and Mac web versions as well as the WhatsApp desktop apps. The shortcut keys do allow users to explore a variety of options such as making a message unread, opening a new chat window, muting chats, or searching in the chat list.

The app has various shortcuts for Mac and Windows users and these shortcuts differ when using WhatsApp Web or the WhatsApp desktop app as well.  Let’s take a look at them.

Shortcut keys for Mac WhatsApp desktop app

On Mac desktop app, press Cmd+Ctrl+Shift+U to mark a message unread. For archiving a chat, users need to press CMD + E. If you want to open a new profile, click on CMD + P. Also, if you want to open a new chat, press CMD + N. To Pin/ Unpin a chat, a user has to press CMD + SHIFT + P.

To search in chat press CMD + SHIFT + F, while for a new group, the user has to press CMD + CTRL + N. For settings, the shortcut key is CMD + comma. To mute chat, the user should press CMD + SHIFT + M, whereas to delete a chat, press CMD + SHIFT + D.

To search in the chat list, one has to press CMD + F. For new chat press CMD + N. If you want to open a profile press CMD + P. For return space press SHIFT + ENTER.

A user needs to press CMD + CTRL + SHIFT + U for Mark as Unread. Then, to archive a chat, you have to press CMD + CTRL + E. If you want to open a new chat, press CMD + CTRL + N. To Pin/ Unpin a chat, a user has to press CMD + CTRL + SHIFT + P.
