Gone are the days when acquiring an essential document like a passport required you to wake up early and make it to the Internal Affairs ministry before the queue is so long. With a proper system now in place, and the times demanding that there is minimal converging of people, you can now easily apply for a Ugandan passport online.
It does not mean that you will not pay the ministry a visit, you actually will. However, you will only get there on the appointment, and to complete the application process – way better than the previous case of having to appear every other day until your documentation is approved.

How to apply for a Ugandan passport online
To apply for a Ugandan passport online, log on to the Ministry of Internal Affairs passport portal. From here, select the option to go to depending on the progress of your application. If it is your first time on the site, tap on the Start new application button.
Read and accept the terms & conditions displayed in the Disclaimer, and then fill out the form asking for your contact information, security questions, and tap on the Continue button.
On the next page, you will be required to state the details of the application. Are you looking at getting an ordinary, official, or diplomatic passport? Is it a new application, are you renewing or you are replacing a damaged/lost booklet? It is here that you also state whether you want it in standard time or in express time.
You are also required to list where you are applying from as well as where you expect to pick the passport from. When you fill in all these, you will have to tap on the Continue button. On the next pages, you will be required to fill in your personal details including your citizenship, spouse, parental, and next of kin details.
When you are done filling in the passport application form, you are then required to print the Application Payment Advice Form after which you should make payment for the selected type of passport using the selected payment method.
Thereafter, you should schedule an appointment on a date of your convenience using the schedule appointment link on the home page. If this is set, go ahead and print the Application Appointment Form. From here, report to the selected pickup center with the passport appointment form with the appropriate application requirements displayed on the website, for enrolment.
