Speaking on the Fat Boy show on RX Radio this morning with Fat Boy and Olive, SafeBoda founder Ricky Thompson made clarifications on some of the grievances that have been expressed by many of its users as observed on social media. One of the first and most important things he explained was that the customer’s safety will always be the company’s major priority and it is not diverting from that.

On Monday evening, the company received heavy backlash for the new terms of use that clearly stated in some clauses the company would not be responsible for any actions caused by service providers that the app facilitates. Service providers include the riders, food vendors, grocery stores and pharmacies all whose products you can find through the application.

The new terms of use further explain that in case of any disputes between customers and service providers, the company is not responsible and the two parties should settle the dispute between themselves. Ricky Thomson explained that the customer service platform is still existent and ready to help. He said, “In case of anything wrong, users can still report to the customer service it will be more than willing to provide support. Should any issue arise where a customer is not satisfied with a service like with the food that has been delivered to them, they can still inform customer care and it will work on them.”

Much of the disappointment expressed by the company’s customers stems from the trust many have had in the company as it has presented itself as a brand that looks out for its customers above everything else. The SafeBoda founder said that he appreciates the loyalty from its customers from the time the company just started and it still looks out for the customer’s needs. He explained however that the new terms of use are just standard procedure that every company must carry out.

He said, “The company is not trying to run away from serving people this is just legal protection that is required for the company to have. Companies always carry out such procedures for the purpose of legal protection and nothing else.”

Is it possible for SafeBoda to review the new terms of use?

When consulted on whether the company will consider the possibility for SafeBoda to review the new terms of use, SafeBoda founder explained saying, “We have gone through the customer feedback and it didn’t make us feel good. We will review the new terms of use soon.” There is no particular timeline for when the company will review the new terms of use but he explained that they have put it into consideration and it will be worked upon.

Safety will always be the company’s priority as explained by Ricky Thomson. The company ensures that it gives its riders the best training in a number of areas to ensure that customers are safe. Some of the areas he explained were traffic rules area, road safety, first aid and financial literacy.

Some of the customers have lost confidence in the company because of these new terms of use as they implied that they were on their own. In reference to this morning’s interview, customers could hope for the chance for SafeBoda to review the new terms of use to restore the lost confidence.
