Uganda banned Zuckerberg’s Facebook prior to the January polls and it’s now close to 9 months since the ban was effected.
The ban came after the popular social media app had suspended some accounts associated with the ruling party – NRM for what it termed as coordinated inauthentic behaviour. It was more of a tit-for-tat game as the government reciprocated by banning Facebook and its sister media platforms.

As other media platforms were later allowed to operate, Facebook continued to be banned in Uganda with allegations of its misuse by Ugandans.
The Minister for ICT Chris Baryomunsi says the government is in negotiations to reach an understanding with Facebook before the ban is lifted.
It is now close to 9 months ever since the ban was implemented but Ugandans still cling to Facebook and without doubt, it remains one of Uganda’s most used social media platforms.
Facebook users in Uganda still give views which views are read live on recognised broadcast media platforms but the government insists that the ban is still on.
Government officials(some) have as well been criticized for using Facebook and yet the ban hasn’t been lifted yet.
