45.Digital Market Place for Local Manufacturers An Electronic Trade Enabler that eliminates demand and supply chain bottlenecks by facilitating manufacturers via a Web-based platform that brings manufacturers, buyers and suppliers together to discover, collaborate, purchase and partner to close business dealings.

Background of NIISP

The National ICT Initiatives Support Program (NIISP) was established in 2018 to promote the development of an ecosystem and marketplace for ICT Innovation for creative digital goods from Uganda. The program called for innovators to apply in April 2020 in the following areas which are: applications for innovations that support the fight against the novel coronavirus, health information systems and applications to improve public service delivery. Over 950 applications were received online. 45 start-ups emerged as the winners at the end of the evaluation.

The winning Ugandan innovators under NIISP received a collective reward of UGX7.39 billion from the government as contribution to their growth so they can have significant impact nation wide and also on a global scale.
