Africa law tech festival
Africa Law Tech festival is about the confluence of Law and Technology in Africa. This year’s festival theme; Digital Policy for Economic Growth, is inspired by the rapid growth of the tech policy landscape on the continent and the desire to build back better post-covid 6 summits with distinct sub-themes:
- Digital Access and Infrastructure
- Internet Governance and Content Moderation
- Startups and Digital Trade
- Artificial Intelligence and Ethics
- Digital Identity and Privacy
- Blockchain and Digital Currencies
The sessions run from 2pm (Nairobi, GMT +3) or 12 Noon (Nigeria ) 1pm South African Time. This year’s edition is Hybrid, with daytime Masterclasses taking place on zoom, Evening Panels on twitter spaces and After-work Fireside chats and Dance workout on Zoom, and virtual networking sessions on Clubhouse. In-person networking sessions are scheduled in Ghana and Kenya.

TechBuzz hub
In collaboration with Mastercard Foundation, Innovation Village, Einstein Rising & MUBS-University, a training session has been organized where people will learn the different options available in both local and international economies. Waape Beta Expo.
Waape a digital space that connects anyone with a skill or a service to their next employers hosted its beta expo launch on 26th June this year. The launch was quite insightful with different speakers from a number of companies like Rwazi, Elevate, She Code Africa and many more that shared their views on topics like how to thrive in the gig economy and empowering women through tech.
Waape showed off some amazingly cool features during the launch like;
- The security verification features for one’s email and phone number as they open up an account
- The well-integrated payment format easing the payments process
- The simplified process of searching for a gig or talent through filters like category, location, job success rate and hourly rate.
