With an aim to make work processes more effective and efficient, the Uganda Police Force has announced the launch of online application for a letter of good conduct services effective the 17th of May 2021. The adaptation of technology in various fields has come to make work processes easier for people allowing convenience for those that need the services and making processes more effective.

Police says the launch of online application for a letter of good conduct to come with great benefits
This announcement about the launch of online application for a letter of good conduct was made yesterday, 17th May 2021 in a press release by the security organ. The automation of such services by the force will allow people to apply online for these letters with less interruption.
At the launch of online application for a letter of good conduct, Uganda Police Force communicated and said, “Cognizant of the threat of the spread of COVID -19 and to minimize congestion at the Directorate of INTERPOL Headquarters’ which is mandated to issue certificates of good conduct, UPF is launching online services effective 17th May 2021.”
Some of the anticipated benefits from the launch of online application for a letter of good conduct are;
• Reducing on the overcrowding at the Directorate of INTERPOL and International Relations
• Reducing on the time spent in the process of acquiring the certificates of good conduct.
• Helping the applicants to track and know the status of their applications.
Digitization of a number of government services like the launch of online application for a letter of good conduct is ongoing to ensure that there is improved public service delivery.
A certificate/letter of good conduct is a certified letter from the local police department that potential employers may request from applicants. Other reasons why you might need to request a letter of good conduct include applications for foreign work permits or travel visas. Adoption agencies may also ask that you provide a letter of good conduct with your adoption application.

A certificate of good conduct is not only used to prove that someone has no criminal record but also used to easily identify and apprehend criminals. Apart from the use of biometrics which has proven to be very effective in catching criminals, requesting a letter of good conduct can be an alternative.
As police announced the launch of online application for a letter of good conduct, people should be aware that they need an active email in order to register. With a simple click to the Uganda Police website and a few easy steps, one can access this letter within the shortest time.
A look at ongoing digital efforts in various government agencies.
The government is working to digitize different services in order to enhance public service delivery and alleviate the previous difficulties associated with several working processes. Just like the launch of online application for a letter of good conduct, a number of these digital changes can be seen in different Ministries and government agencies.
Recently, the Minister of Transport and works explained the new changes to the driving permits that are now being issued to Ugandans after the Uganda Security Printing Company took over the issuance process.
Some of the changes to the driving permits in Uganda that should be expected are compliance with ISO requirements and Tripartite Transport and Transit Facilitation Programme (TTTFP) which aims at having a uniform card for the three regional blocks EAC, SADC and COMESA. Those who receive the new card will be able to drive through member states with almost no restrictions.
The Ministry of Works and Transport assures Ugandans about the new security features embedded within the card that will make them hard to forge as it has been in certain instances in the past. The system has been tightly integrated with Police systems for easy verification and issuance of express penalties by the traffic police gadgets

The Minister of ICT and National Guidance, Judith Nabakooba explained that the new online postal services in Uganda introduce a system that is secure since it has been tested out. It allows for end-to-end encryption through the use of biometric features like fingerprint scans that will prevent cases of hacking and fraud.
